Innocence Haven’s mission is deeply committed to providing a long term care sanctuary for children who have been victims of sex and labor trafficking, offering a safe, healing environment to rebuild their lives. Our comprehensive, trauma-informed approach is specifically designed to address the complex needs of youth victims, ranging in age from 10 to 17. The program is structured to accommodate each child’s individual recovery needs over a period of up to two years, depending on the extent of their trauma and healing progress.
Specialized Therapeutic Support
Given the profound emotional, psychological, and physical trauma caused by sex and labor trafficking, each child will receive personalized therapy tailored to their experiences. Our team will provide trauma-informed counseling, specialized therapy for trauma bonding, and group sessions to help children process their abuse and rebuild their sense of safety and identity.
Holistic Healing & Wellness
Healing from the physical and psychological scars of trafficking requires a comprehensive approach. In addition to individual and group therapy, children will have access to equine therapy, yoga, mindfulness practices, and outdoor recreational activities to support mental, emotional, and physical healing. The goal is to help children regain their trust in themselves and others, fostering a sense of belonging and self-worth.
Specialized Recovery Resources
Our facility will provide specialized support for children recovering from the trauma of sexual abuse and forced labor. This includes counseling for victims of sexual exploitation and human trafficking, as well as access to medical care for any trauma-related injuries. We will also ensure that any long-term mental health concerns, such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression, are addressed with individualized treatment plans.
Education & Skill-Building
Many of the children in our care have missed critical education due to their trafficking experiences. To meet their educational needs, special education services will be provided on-site, while we also focus on helping them develop life skills necessary for future independence. Vocational training and mentorship programs will be part of their recovery, preparing them for a future where they can thrive independently, free from the cycles of abuse they’ve endured.
Medical & Specialty Care
The trauma of trafficking often leaves children with both visible and hidden health issues. On-site medical professionals will monitor their physical health, and we will coordinate off-site care for specialized needs such as dental, vision, and substance recovery services. These medical treatments will be integrated into their overall care plan to address the full scope of their recovery.
A Safe and Nurturing Environment
Our goal is to provide a secure and nurturing space where these children can heal, feel safe, and be supported by dedicated staff. They will experience the joy of engaging in gardening, outdoor activities, and recreational programs that encourage both emotional healing and connection with the world around them. They will learn trust and empathy, fostering healing in an environment where they are respected and valued.
